Who I am
Communications and marketing expert, specializing in strategic management of high-quality public and private campaigns. |
I began consulting as a freelance public relations, marketing and communications professional in 2004, advising small- and medium-sized businesses about communication strategies.
I started my public service career in 2012 at the Washington state Department of Retirement Systems and joined the Washington state Department of Health as a communications manager in 2017. Throughout my career, I’ve found that I can accomplish a lot by helping customers and professional partners achieve their goals. I’m proud to be known as someone who gets things done. My most formative early experience was a semester course with Outward Bound, a wilderness leadership organization, when I was 18. The organization’s motto is “To serve, to strive, and not to yield,” and that approach has been integral to my career. To me, it means putting forth my best effort, working for the greater good, and not being derailed by setbacks. It’s why I value my work in public service, where my work and skills serve my community. My expertise lies in developing public relations and marketing strategies, delivering measurable results in campaigns, and managing communication and IT projects. Skills: Strategic communications, developing and implementing marketing plans, media relations, crisis communications, content development, editing, and marketing. Expert-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and website CMS. I graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English from the University of Florida and have a Master of Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. Fan of the Oxford comma. |
